I've ordered the the Chicken Shack, Shack Burger, Fries, Onion Rings, Strawberry Lemonade, and a Cookies and Cream Shake. I think the chicken is better than the burger, but both are good. They're not very big, so double up if you get a burger. Definitely get the fries over the onion rings. The onion rings are good, but you get about five or six so the value isn't there. I thought the strawberry lemonade was decent, but I wouldn't order again. The cookies and cream shake is the best thing I've had, and I'm glad I don't care for whipped cream so I save $0.50. The service was fine. I used the kiosk to order my food. There are three, and some people in line missed that fact. Don't wait for no reason. When they brought out our food, they forgot my drink, but a quick conversation corrected that quickly. I like that Shake Shack took over the abandoned school lot that used to be here. It makes for a cool use of space, and removes the eyesore that had been here for decades (I'm ignoring that there was an event center here in the interim). Ultimately, my issue is Shake Shack is overrated. The main entrees aren't filling and the sides are expensive without delivering any real value. The shakes are the best thing on the menu (clue is in the name), but it's not enough to bring me in. I show up because my friends enjoy it, but this is never on my list of places to hit up.
Overview
Shake Shack The School Yard brings a recognizable fast-casual dining concept to 11020 S State St Suite B, Sandy, UT 84070, United States. For diners looking for a straightforward place to enjoy familiar American comfort food, this location offers the convenience associated with the Shake Shack name while serving customers in the Sandy area. Its setting makes it a practical option for anything from a quick meal to a relaxed stop with friends or family.
The menu is centered on the kind of casual fare that has made Shake Shack widely known. Burgers are naturally a major part of the experience, accompanied by other classic fast-food-style choices and sides. Rather than presenting an oversized selection, the concept is built around recognizable favorites and an ordering process suited to diners who want something uncomplicated. That focused approach can be particularly appealing when a group wants a casual meal without spending too much time deciding between dozens of different dishes.
Another part of the appeal is the restaurant's relaxed format. Shake Shack The School Yard is not positioned as a formal dining destination, so visitors can expect an experience geared more toward convenience and accessibility. That makes the restaurant relevant for lunch, an informal dinner, or a stop while spending time elsewhere in Sandy. For families and groups, a familiar restaurant format can also make choosing a place to eat easier when everyone has slightly different preferences.
Location is an important consideration when comparing restaurant options, and this Shake Shack can be found directly on S State Street. The address at Suite B provides a clear destination for local residents as well as visitors searching for recognizable dining locations around Sandy. Because Shake Shack operates multiple locations, checking the exact address before visiting is useful, especially when reading reviews or searching for directions online.
From a dinerβs perspective, the main attraction here is consistency of concept. Someone specifically searching for burgers and casual American food will have a clearer idea of what to expect than they might at an unfamiliar independent restaurant. On the other hand, diners seeking an elaborate, full-service meal or a highly formal atmosphere may naturally prefer a different style of establishment. Shake Shack The School Yard is better understood as an approachable option for a convenient meal built around a focused fast-casual format.
Reviews of restaurants like this are most useful when they consider the complete visit rather than concentrating on a single menu item. Service pace, food preparation, cleanliness, seating, value, and the overall atmosphere can all influence the experience, and these details may vary from visit to visit. For anyone considering Shake Shack The School Yard, its Sandy address, recognizable concept, casual setting, and burger-focused identity provide the essential points to weigh when deciding whether it suits the occasion.

The food was pretty good. A little pricey for the quality you get though. I would eat here again, if others wanted to go. The shakes were pretty good. I prefer thick shakes, but for being thin shakes, they were pretty good. I got their spicy burger (Smokehouse Burger?), and it was good. Wasnβt a fan of the pickled peppers on it though. Kind of a funky taste. Others in my large group were of the same opinion, thinking the food was good, but a little pricey. My friend got the Chicago Style Hot Dog. He said it was OK, but wouldnβt get it again.
This location is as good as any other. Tried a lettuce-wrap double-burger and it was one of the best lettuce wrap burgers we have had anywhere. The chicken bites smothered in korean bbq sauce were tasty, albeit a little smaller than I expected for a 10-piece. The cookies and cream shake was great. The poppers in my flavored lemonade were great. And the service was friendly and relatively quick.
Pretty good burger, pretty good shake, not so good fries. This was my first time at the Shake Shack. It was crowded, but the ordering system kept things moving quickly. The kitchen staff was moving fast and working hard! Overall, though, given the choice between this and In N Out I'd go with In N Out Guys. It's good to know that the meat is organically sourced, though
We paid $30 for what you see on the pics. Iβd say the food is good but not worth the price. The burgers and sandwiches arenβt that big and if youβre really hungry you might not get full. I like the concept of ordering on your own through the screens but asking for a tip at the end is insane. NO ONE even took my order so why should I tip? Had never been to Shake Shack. Glad I went to get the curiosity outta the way. Wonβt go again. Itβs not better than chick-fil-a or Burger King and the price is insane.
The food was good, nothing spectacular, but the updated/modern design of the restaurant is doing a lot of lifting. What I mean by that is the kitchen is gross, especially the floor (we could see it clearly from where we were eating), the bathroom had overflowing paper towels in the trash, and the dining room floor looks like it has spills that have been there all day. Also, one of the bathroom stall doors is crooked and doesnβt close easily. The staff is LOW energy, like super low. I saw a patron tell the staff that theyβre out of paper towels in the bathroom and he just grunted, βokayβ and walked away looking at his own feet (never went to address it).
Honestly? I have no notes. I got a double SmokeShack with a gluten free bun and it was delightful. The fries were crispy and fluffy and the chocolate shake was creamy and appropriately chocolate.
